The current pandemic situation has many of us re-thinking their lives. If you’re looking for a new purpose or a job to help you bridge the gaps both in your resume, and be on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic. Below, is a list of the top Singaporean jobs in demand right now due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

    1. Temperature Screeners

If you’ve kept up with the news, you’ll know that temperature screeners are in high demand. The responsibilities for the role are pretty straightforward and basic. Additionally, the moderately paid position is popular as it requires candidates to have little to no experience. A quick trawl through Google shows that candidates only require an N or O level certification to be qualified for the role. However, candidates with a nursing certification can work in hospitals, and potentially earn more.

    • Temperature screening of individuals

    • Filling in and collecting of health declaration forms

    • Attend to both patient and individual inquiries

    • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned

    2. Contact Tracing Assistant

If you’re interested in investigating, contact tracing might be the new gig for you. The goal of a contact tracer is to identify people who might have come into contact with an individual suspected of the Covid-19 virus. Contact tracers are typically broken up into four different roles: (a) Coordinates with the Ministry of Health, (b) Interviewing patients and close contacts, (c) Reviewing the data collected and (d) Tracking down contacts MOH has not managed to contact. The latter is often assigned to officers

The responsibilities and qualifications needed to be a contact tracer differ according to various departments. However, we speculate that basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel) along with excellent communication and interview skills might help you land the role of a contact tracer. The infographic below demonstrates just how important contact tracing is in the current Covid-19 era.
