Employment Pass (EP)
The EP (Employment Pass) is for candidates who wish to work in Singapore with a specific employer. There are 3 categories of EP as shown below.

Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)
The PEP (Personalised Employment Pass) is for candidates who wish to work in Singapore but do not wish to be engaged contractually to any specific employer for a period of five (5) years.
The following candidates are eligible to apply for the PEP:-
- Professionals with a fixed monthly salary of at least SGD 8000.00 (Last held position with a monthly salary has to be at least 6 months from time of application)
- Former P1 Employment Pass holders who are residing overseas (Former P1 EP holders should not be unemployed for longer than a continous period of 6 months at the point of application)
- Current P1 Employment Pass holders
- Current P2 Employment Pass holders (Current P2 EP holders must have worked in Singapore on a P2 EP for at least 2 years, and have earned a fixed salary of at least SGD 34,000 in the preceding years)
- Current Q1 Employment Pass holders (Current Q1 EP holders must have worked in Singapore on a Q1 EP for at least 5 years, and have earned a fixed salary of at least SGD 34,000 in the preceding years)
- Foreign graduates from institutions of higher learning in Singapore (Foreign graduates from institutions of higher learning in Singapore with at least two years' working experience on a P or Q1 Pass. They should earn a fixed salary of at least $34,000 in the preceding year)
The following candidates are not eligible for the PEP:-
- Foreigners who are issued with an EP under the Sponsorship scheme. Under this scheme, their direct employers are overseas companies which do not have a Singapore registered office/business entity;
- Foreigners who are working or intending to work on a free lance basis without any direct employers in Singapore;
- Foreigners who are listed as Sole Proprietors, Partners or Directors in a business/company registered with ACRA and are shareholders of that business/company.
- Foreigners working as journalists, editors, sub-editors and producers.
